The Game

Sometimes, I feel like life in America---hell, life period---is an elaborate virtual reality video game during which we have to somehow unlock the cheat codes in order to “win”. I mean, there are so many obstacles along the way and every level seems to have a “boss” that becomes increasingly harder to beat, but we must in order to advance to the next level. When faced with said challenges, many of us have asked: “Okay, how do I beat this guy”? Is there a damn strategy guide? Am I doing something wrong? In a fit of frustration, we might have thrown our controllers (smartphones, probably) or cursed God (see Job’s wife), but that didn’t help the situation, did it? It also didn’t make it any easier or comforting when we looked over our shoulders and saw our counterparts winning with ease. We probably asked “Hey, how’d you do that”? only to be met with “Oh, it’s easy.” Huh? Ain’t nothing never (excuse my grammar) been easy for me, man.  I’ve been working at this for hours, days, weeks, months, years, even. Anyway, back to the game…
